We pick up with the characters from The Great Hamster Massacre – Anna, her friend Suzanne, and Anna’s little brother, Tom, now that Joe-down-the-road has moved away to live with his dad. Left in charge of Joe’s rabbit, the girls notice that the animal is sick from missing him so much. Then they hear that Joe has also become ill and are convinced the pair will die if they are not reunited. It’s a race against time to pull off their meanest feat yet… The Great Rabbit Rescue!

Waterstone’s Children’s Book Award 2010 winner!
The Great Hamster Massacre by Katie Davies beat off stiff competition from a nine-strong shortlist to win the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize 2010 last night, Wednesday 10th February.
The winner was announced by Children’s Laureate Anthony Browne who described the book as “a funny and touching story told very convincingly and honestly from the point of view of a young girl.”
Published earlier this year, The Great Hamster Massacre has already received rave reviews within the industry. Caroline Horn, Children’s News Editor of The Bookseller, said: “Katie Davies is an authentic new voice in the children’s world. The Great Hamster Massacre is funny, moving and real – I look forward to reading her next book.”
